Our Midwives’ Voices, Midwives’ Demands campaign, initiated in Kenya in 2021, was a direct response to women’s overwhelming desire for more, better-trained, and supported midwives. This campaign aimed to amplify the voices of midwives themselves, understanding their critical needs to provide high-quality, respectful care to women and girls
WRA Kenya has since kick-started advocacy conversations with over 3,500 Kenya midwives who have shared their top requests touching on improved health infrastructure and care processes on one end, and increased education and leadership opportunities on the other hand. By connecting conversations between women, girls and midwives, the campaign has already begun shifting power dynamics between patient and provider to ensure a health system that is informed and driven by the user of care, including women, girls, and mothers.
