FAQs
White Ribbon Alliance Kenya (WRA Kenya) works with communities especially diverse women and girls to ignite their power and codesign local solutions that are fit for purpose and relevant to local challenges based on their self-articulated needs. This follows our asking and listening through our ASK-LISTEN-ACT power approach. This is done through our Action networks for change. These women and girls action
network for change is a powerful network of diverse actors, working at the grassroots level to advance the health and well-being of women, girls and newborns and ultimately their families and communities in general. Made up of groups of majorly women and girls in their diversity, men and youth as allies, frontline health care worker and other diverse champions, these networks work at the village level to bring about lasting change in their communities. These action networks, locally known as VANs (
Village Action networks) are the epicenter of our integrated actions at the grassroots level. Working on various intersecting issues that affect the health and wellbeing of women, these networks are key towards driving our vision- a world where women and girls live in dignity and realize their Reproductive, Maternal and Newborns Health (RMNH) rights. These are the action levels where ASKS from women and girls are translated into tangible agendas that are sustainable, given that they are decided and driven by the women and girls themselves.
WRA Kenya’s’ strong belief is that women and girls are the experts of their lives. Following our simple asks from 2019- Date on key aspects that affect women's and girls health and wellbeing, women and girls across Kenya unanimously asked for intersecting
needs that are critical for their lives and that of their families. ‘We want our voice to shape the decisions around our health and well-being, we want money in our hands to afford education, healthcare, and food among others, ‘we want health literacy to make sound decisions around our health and that of our children and families, we want equitable and dignified health services, we want to acquire skills to better our lives, we want clean water in our vicinity, we want security to go on with our lives uninterrupted among others.
